DCCC skips out on Angry Angie

Dan Haley at the Denver Post is reporting (and has been confirmed by outside sources) that the DCCC has pulled its $600,000+ reservation of TV time in support of Angry Angie Paccione and is leaving her to her own devises...

On top of the poll that has Marilyn up 10, I think an opera is waiting to be sung...

The real question is, will we be able to hear that famous lady sing over the wailing and nashing of teeth from Angry Angie and her supporter?

Marilyn's Campaign manager Shaun Kenney has a priceless quote:

“If this isn’t the final nail in Angie Paccione’s political coffin, it’s
pretty close,” Musgrave campaign manager Shaun Kenney said in a press release.
“Coming on top of the poll earlier this week showing Marilyn Musgrave leading by
10 percentage points, it is clear that national Democrats have completely given
up hope for “Angry Angie”.”

Paccione TV Ad lies...

The Denver Post, liberal lion of Colorado, has a piece on how Angry Angie's new TV ad is just plain wrong.

Angry Angie outright lies when she says that Musgrave supported the President's prescription drug plan. Marilyn voted against it. Twice.

From the Post:
Ad watch: Congress for sale?
Congress for sale?
Title: Stand
Up
Sponsor: Angie Paccione for Congress
Type: TV ad
The message:
Democratic 4th Congressional District candidate Angie Paccione tells an
audience
that for the past five years in Washington, special interests -
particularly
pharmaceutical and oil companies - have written legislation,
including the
Medicare prescription drug benefit. As she talks, an image of
President Bush
kissing U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave is flashed on the screen
and "sold out" is
stamped on the frame. "What this administration and
what this Congress has
done is really sold out to the special interests,"
Paccione says.
Fact:
Musgrave twice voted against the
Prescription Drug and Medicare Improvement
Act of 2003, even after a
personal phone call from President Bush urging her to
vote for it.
The act passed by a final vote of 220 to 215, with 204 Republicans
voting for the measure along with 16 Democrats. One independent voted for
the plan. [Emphasis Added]

Silly Angie... if you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.

Side note: Am I the only one that thinks Angie's ad is horribly produced?

UPDATE: Adam Schrager from 9NEWS agrees that Angry Angie lies in her TV ad.

Musgrave Continues to roll to Victory

It sure looks like the Musgrave campaign is getting under the skin of Angry Angie the New York Liberal and her crazy supporters.

One of Angry Angie's most vocal of loony lefties, the Muskrat Hunter, seems upset that Musgrave staff were video taping Angry Angie.

Remember when I tried to get some video of the Muskrat at her Longmont Town Hall? Well, Angie Paccione just had a Town Hall in Longmont at Sandstone Ranch Community Park and, lo and behold, the Mighty Muskrat Multimedia Mooks appeared.

Ya know, these two are both military-service age - and no doubt support the war but just don't seem to have the intestinal fortitude to sign up and serve. Easier to stay home and play cameraman...

Shows the difference between Dems and Muskrat Kampers - Dems invite scrutiny and embrace transparency. Muskrat Kampers cover up, hide, lie and dodge military service.

This guy is completely unhinged...

Great Americans
These two guys look like great Americans, to me. Afterall, they do work for Marilyn Musgrave, a conservative hero.

Paccione Grilled, with a side of slaw

The headline says it all...

Paccione Grilled by Students...

The real question here is did the students drink Budweiser or Coors with their grilling?

In all seriousness, The Fort Collins Coloradoan, which is basically part of Angie's propaganda campaign, even had trouble making Paccione look good. Half of the article was taken up by Musgrave's Campaign Manager Shaun Kenney's pithy quote (see below) and the inquiries of an ASCSU student about Paccione's view on gay marriage.

If Angry Angie the New York Liberal, can't make it at CSU, the bastion of liberalism in the 4th CD, how does she expect to win?

Quote:

The response from Shaun Kenney, spokesman for Musgrave's campaign, to Paccione's call to elect someone who will be a leader and fight for the district was short and to the point.

"If she wants someone who represents the values of the 4th District, we look forward to her endorsing Marilyn Musgrave and bowing out of the race," Kenney said.

MSM attacks Lamborn, again.. for no reason

The MSM, this time in the form of the Colorado Springs Independent is advancing an argument that we are sure to hear ad-nauseum through November, Doug Lamborn is "too far to the right."

Some of the choice quotes:
"I am a Republican, and I will be supporting Jay Fawcett."

Those words, spoken by respected longtime community business leader Marv Strait— might sound like heresy to the ears of many local Grand Old Party loyalists. For many Republican officeholders, or those who may one day want to become politicians, such a public statement could very well spell for them the kiss of death. But to Strait, a Republican for 51 years, supporting a Democrat running for Congress is really no big deal.

"I've always voted for the individual, and in this case, I support Jay," Strait says.
Right… It gets worse:
“..Strait echoes the desire to have someone with military experience in Congress.

"I don't think Lamborn has ever been in the military, and we're a military town," he says. "It seems to me that so much of our economy depends on having someone understand the military."
Apparently military service is required to fully understanding the military. IÂ’m sure FDR and Truman would be glad to hear that they were unfit to lead a nation at war because they didnÂ’t serve themselves.

But the winner of The Most Pretentious, condescendingending and Most full of Bull quote goes to:
"I've also had several prominent Republicans tell me they'd be scared to death to come out and publicly endorse Jay, but when they step into the voting booth, they'll be voting for Jay," Hente says, declining to name names.
What Hente actually means: "There are Republicans who donÂ’t support Doug, but I canÂ’t give you any examples, but since youÂ’re liberal you take me at face value even though I couldnÂ’t be any more full of crap."

George Allen in Trouble

Senator George Allen has gotten himself into a lot of trouble, and placed his presidential ambitions in serious jeopardy.

The Washington Post and a collection of Virginia bloggers are running with the story that Senator Allen used racial slurs toward an Indian-American member of his opponents staff.

What makes the story worse? There's video of the incident.

From the WaPo:
At a campaign rally in southwest Virginia on Friday, Allen repeatedly called a volunteer for Democrat James Webb "macaca." During the speech in Breaks, near the Kentucky border, Allen began by saying that he was "going to run this campaign on positive, constructive ideas" and then pointed at S.R. Sidarth in the crowd.
"This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, macaca, or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent. He's following us around everywhere. And it's just great," Allen said, as his supporters began to laugh. After saying that Webb was raising money in California with a "bunch of Hollywood movie moguls," Allen said, "Let's give a welcome to macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia." [Emphasis added]
WaPo defines "macaca":
Depending on how it is spelled, the word macaca could mean either a monkey that inhabits the Eastern Hemisphere or a town in South Africa. In some European cultures, macaca is also considered a racial slur against African immigrants, according to several Web sites that track ethnic slurs. [Emphasis added]
This may very well kill Allen's presidential bid, especially because it allows the WaPo to bring up Allen's questionable past on the issue of race. Allen has decorated his office with the Confederate flag and noose.

Prior to this incident, Allen was on the top of my list of presidential contenders. Allen's monkey business promotes Sam Brownback to the top of the list for '08. [Yes, the pun was intended]

Watch the video here, its bad. Can you say malice and fore-thought?

Right to Life

National Review has a very good deconstruction of the arguments around the "Plan B" pill and the junk science that the Left uses to justify murder.

Susan Wills: "Plan B": Politics v. Science? one half the fight is missing.

Wills' piece is a must read for anyone on the front lines of the life debate.

Beauprez/Rowland Update

Some of the Colorado's own lefty-"cossack" blogs have dug up some information on Janet Rowland, in the form of a candidate survey.

Bottom line:
She believes that life begins at conception.
She believes that the right to concealed carry is part of the second amendment and we shouldn't need a permit to exercise that right.
She supports full choice in education.
She supports the Right To Life as a plank in the Republican Party platform.

It sounds to me like Beauprez picked a very strong conservative. I can only hope and pray that she stands her guns and is able to fully represent these beliefs as Lt. Governor.

Read the actual survey here.

Beauprez / Rowland

I don't know very much about Beauprez new running mate Janet Rowland. I do know two things.
1) She opposed C&D vigorously.
2) Bob Schaffer speaks very highly of her.

'nuff said...

Grade: B-

Paccione talks Ag...sort of

Angie Paccione had a piece in the Greeley Tribune about the state of Colorado Agriculture recently, that I feel deserves comment.

I'm sure that Angie has read a couple of books and farming, heck, she probably even watched "Little House on the Prairie," but that doesn't mean she knows what she's talking about.

For a New York Liberal, she sure does try to squeeze into a pair of Wranglers, but just can't quite pull it off. While I will commend her for recognizing the importance of Agriculture on the Colorado economy, she doesn't understand what Colorado's farmers want or need.

Paccione talks about increasing renewable energy subsidies. She talks about the importance of protectionist tariffs on ethanol. She talks about farm credit and the importance of the sale of beef in foreign markets.

Farmers are worried about the cost of diesel, sure. But they're also concerned about crop prices, they're concerned about passing their farms on to the families, but mostly they're concerned about water. Does Paccione talk about water? Not once.

[Eds. Notes: Marilyn Musgrave was one of the leaders in working to get the Japanese ban on American beef lifted.

Marilyn has fought hard to repeal the death tax, which prevents farmers and ranchers from passing their farms on to their children.

Marilyn single handedly worked to expand prevented crop insurance. I've got $50 that says Angry Angie the New York Liberal doesn't even know what prevented crop insurance even is!]

Lamborn in MSM

Doug Lamborn is getting more attention from the conservative pundits.

John Gizzi from Human Events covers the CD5 Primary... nice to see Lamborn continuing to get national love.

Old News, but good news:

CD5 Update: Media Bias Alert

The local 'Springs media has pulled out the long knives and is already questioning Doug Lamborn's ability to defeat lefty-wack job Jay Fawcett.

KRDO News 13 strikes out with tired old mantra, "its all about the unafiliated voters."

The Summit Daily News, in an article about Lamborn's victory, spent half the article talking about the losers, especially Anderson and Rayburn.

Classic mainstream media spin:
Rayburn won support from homemaker Becky Heck, 53, who said she disliked negative advertising on behalf of the other candidates.

"“He addressed the issues,"” she said. "I just felt like all the other candidates were so desperate in their appeals, so negative. I probably wouldn'’t have a problem with a lot of them and their philosophy, but I was so turned off by the ads."

Each candidate expressed strong support for President Bush's policies and decisions in the war on terrorism and has called for stronger illegal-immigration policies and opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants already in the country.

[Eds. Note: Excuse me, Becky, but your guy lost. Your guy was desperate, Doug Lamborn won because he is BETTER on the issues than your guy, deal with it.]

Why, you might ask, is the Summit Daily News fixated with Rayburn supporters? Why are they talking to the supporters of the loser?

It's simple really. Until Tuesday, they didn't have a focal point for their conservative bashing. Now that Lambron is on the fast track to Washington, he is the whipping boy for the liberal loving, RINO Republican worshipping media.

There is nothing that makes an editor more exciting than moderates who are willing to bash conservative heros.

Beauprez's #2

There has been rampant speculation from the left and the right about who Bob Beauprez will pick to serve as the Colorado State Ribbon Cutter and #2 Figure Head, also known as Lt. Governor.

It seems that current Lt. Guv Jane Norton is the most popular name at the gossip water cooler. Norton is a nice lady, and cuts ribbons really well, but I'm not sure she's the one that inspires the party faithful. John Elway's name has even been tossed around.

Regardless of who Beauprez picks, there are several criteria that need to be met to make the pick viable.

1) Beauprez needs to pick a solid, well spoken conservative.
2) Beauprez needs to pick someone who can cut the ribbons and be his hatchet-man.
3) Beauprez needs someone who is a tireless campaigner.

Some people would say that Beauprez's pick needs to be a strong fundraiser, and while I agree, I think that these other issues are more important in the long run that the marginal help a Lt. Guv will bring to the Beauprez for Governor bank account.

To The Right has the low down on Beauprez's announcement tour tomorrow.

Tomorrow: a report card on Beauprez Lt. Guv pick.

Novak Calls CD-5 General Election

From Bob Novak, Human Events:

"Colorado-5: Former Hefley staffer Jeff Crank (R) did better than we thought he would, but his late surge was not enough to defeat state Sen. Doug Lamborn (R), whom we correctly picked as the winner. Lamborn defeated a crowded field, winning with less than 28 percent of the vote. Lamborn will be the next Congressman -- the race is over in this heavily GOP district. Likely Republican Retention."

It's over. Doug, I mean Congressman Lamborn, should start measuring office furniture...

RNC Poll: Conservatives Motivated

US News (via Drudge) has an internal RNC poll which indicates that the Republican Party base is very motivated for the upcoming election.

I think that this is generally true here in Colorado, as we saw Tuesday in the Primary. However, I think that the conservatives in Grand Old Party are the ones that are motivated for the up-coming election.

Read the poll here.

Thank Angie for the Humor

Be sure to check out the latest over at Bankrupt Angie.

This picture just might make you spill your morning coffee!

A New day dawns...

With the Primary victories of such stalwart conservatives as State Sen. Doug Lamborn (CD5), Scott Renfroe (Senate-13), Mike Kopp (Senate-22), State Rep. Ted Harvey (Senate-30) and Kent Lambert (HD-14), a blow has been struck for the conservative movement. A statement has been made. When true conservatives run boldly as conservatives, they win.

The long road to November 7th is still ahead. Our vision for The Colorado Conservative Project is two fold.

Firstly, we must elected good, solid conservatives to office, men like Lamborn and Renfroe, and courageous women like Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave. The Colorado Conservative Project hopes to help cut through the liberal lies and the media misstatements in these races.

Secondly, we must hold accountable those Republicans of weaker constitution than our previously mentioned conservative hero's. A spade is a spade, and should be called such. Promptly.

The Colorado Conservative Project joins a small, but growing community of conservative bloggers in Colorado; tired of the pandering and concessions that our Party leaders have made. Other commentators will be joining The Project over the next several weeks.
