"He fought my efforts to reform the National Governors Association and always took fiscal positions to my left," former Colorado Gov. Bill Owens, a supporter of Mitt Romney, told me.

Owens says that Huckabee is fiscally liberal???!!?? What's next, Barney Frank saying he's a little too flaming?
Huckabee is indicitive of the trend for Republican politics, act conservative to get elected, but don't even try to live that way while in office.
If we are going to attack candidates based on their liberal history, let's be fair and attack across the board... who, then, is less liberal on all issues? Of the top 5 candidates it is Huckabee.
Remember, tax increases imposed in Arkansas were put to the people to vote in support of repairing a crumbling interstate infrastructure (remember the bridge collapse in Minneapolis?), and 80% of Arkansan voters approved the tax. That is called being a representative of the people and providing for the common good.
Compare that to Rudy who states very clearly that he is not a Republican, but a liberal... and Mitt who... well, when he settles on a position I'll get back to you... Fred Thompson who Lobbied for abortion and when asked what his greatest accomplishment from 8 years in the senate was he said "I'll have to get back to you on that"... and then there is "Let 'em In" McCain who is the weakest on immigration.
So who has been the most consistent conservative across the board? Who has had the courage to run on and largely maintian founding principles? Who has been the most effective leader while maintaining conservative values?
The answer is clear.
The answer IS clear.....and its not Ron Paul.
There is no candidate that has a prayer of winning the Republican Establishment's endorsement that has been and will stay a conservative.
